2012 - The Water Dragon is in Charge

It's goodbye to the Metal Rabbit and welcome to the Dragon. A creature of myth and magic, the Dragon is seen as fortuitous, prosperous and energetic. What will happen? That’s the exciting thing about a Dragon year because it can be unpredictable: will the Dragon be docile when you approach it or breath fire?

Whatever happens it will certainly be different from the unobtrusive, ‘working in the background’ nature of the Rabbit. The dragon is upfront, demanding and takes no prisoners. What has to be done gets done - for the greater good. And the greater good for the Dragon is Nature herself. We may see Nature fighting back against man’s actions. Some of us may even realise that, although our role in this world is important, we are part of a bigger whole.

The Dragon’s natural affinity is with the elements of Earth and Water. We think of ‘Dragon Lines’ as the energy channels that flow through the Earth just as meridians carry energy through our bodies. We think of Dragons living in caves protecting treasure. This year is our chance to understand exactly what that treasure may be.

The Water element of this year’s Dragon calms some of the unpredictability of the energy that will be with us this year. Some of the democratic taste of the Rabbit will continue into 2012 so the Dragon may not scorch you….at first!

The last Water Dragon year was in 1952: the year that the ’Big Bang’ theory of creation was introduced; Britain developed its own atomic bomb; the US successfully tested the detonation of a hydrogen bomb and California suffered a huge earthquake. These are all examples of the potentially explosive energy of the Dragon who also brought prosperity as the world began to climb out of austerity following World War II with families owning cars, telephones and television sets.

Whatever your situation and whatever you feel about this coming year, be prepared to be excited.

Tips for 2012

The wealth area this year is found in the West sector of your home or room. If your main door is in this area then ensure that it is inviting to the wealth Chi coming your way. Activate this area with some fire: red colours; triangular shapes or place the TV here. Other areas of wealth are the South and Tai Chi areas of your home or room. A money plant would be helpful in either of these areas (Jade Tree - Crassula Argentea).
The South East sector of your home and room is very inauspicious this year. Avoid conducting anything important here. If you can, bring the element of metal to this area: paint white or light grey; have objects made of metal or dome shaped to represent metal; keep clear and clutter free.
The Dragon resides in the South East sector (112.5° - 127.5°). Therefore it is important that you minimise any disruption to this area of your home or room for this year, such as building work, otherwise you may experience problems and delays.
Use the Dragon energy. If things have been static for some time shake them up. Approach everything with 100% commitment and energy: you’ll find others will come along with you.

These tips are general for everybody. However, there are deeper levels of Feng Shui which take into account you and your specific environment.
